Vuuch Discussions:

This podcast covers the innovative web-based collaboration / discussion / social network called Vuuch. Vuuch was brought up in the SolidWorks World Roundtable podcast but was never dug into enough at that time.  Last week I had some time to join Vuuch and experience all that it has to offer.  Topics covered:

- Introduction

- Registration and setup

- Web Portal interface

- Attachments

- Group creation

- SolidWorks integration and workflow

- Excel integration and workflow

- Overall impressions

In a nutshell, Vuuch is a cloud based web application that offers group based treaded discussions, similar to a forum but can offer associated CAD and Excel based discussions with attachment uploading.  I would say that it is Twitter or Facebook meets Engineering & CAD. By using email as the notification mechanism, Vuuch keeps the discussion central to the topic and in sync with the cloud for unlimited accessibility to all associated participants. I think this is a fantastic service to bring design teams closer and much more in tune with what is going on in the overall process.

I encourage you to signup for this service while it is still in beta and help them sculpt this service before release.  Chris Williams, Vuuch's CEO, is asking that you let them know what you think and to fill out a survey so they can really understand the challenges you face day to day. This is only the beginning to what Vuuch has to offer and I look forward to see more innovation out of Vuuch in the coming months! Now go sign up today and add me as a contact and Vuuch me! ~Lou
