uPrint Unboxing:

Last week I had received the uPrint 3D Printer we ordered which are the newest model on the Dimension line and are referred to as a "Personal Desktop 3D Printer".  Now there are many 3D printers on the market, all with their own pros and cons, however this will not be the focus of this show.  I want to talk about this printer because usually 3D Printers are quite large and bulky and take a bit to install, setup and configure.  One of the goals of the uPrint machine is to allow anyone to unpack and set it up just like any standard paper printer you may pick up at Best Buy.  So with the boxes just sitting in a room, I wanted to really experience what any customer would go through if they ordered this machine.

Dispite the fact I had to update the PC software and the firware that was shipped with the printer I would have been up and running from box to printing parts in about 30 minutes! It was really an eye opening experience and I thought that if this experience continues to be this easy and at this price, these tools will become ubiquitus in engineering departments in the future.
